This, my friends, is a remake of the original Phantasy Star - the one that spawned three sequels, a slew of spin-offs, and two MMORPGs. The first Phantasy Star was released in 1987 or 1988 (depending on what part of the country you live in) on the Sega Master System. It's one of the first RPGs (if not *the* RPG) to feature a female protagonist. It's also one of the first sci-fi RPG games, and the first to feature 3D dungeon crawling on a console. This is a remake for the PlayStation 2 which was only released in Japan. Fortunately, someone named Kyence has fully translated the game into English. So here I am, playing an English translation of a Japanese remake of a video game from the `80s... on PCSX2, a PlayStation 2 emulator.

This game is just so wrong. You play as the "Postal Dude," who has to do mundane things like get milk and return overdue library books. The only thing is this town is full of people who love to shoot, maim, and kill each other... and you! You can play as passively or as violently as you want. Me? I played a bit violently. Just a bit.

Apocalypse Weekend (expansion)

As sick as Postal 2 is, this expansion is even sicker. Unfortunately, it's nowhere near as good as the main game. The open world/sandbox element is gone, leaving a linear game that is devoid of options, and full of multitudes of lookalike enemies. I do have some fun with it, though... at least on Saturday. As far as Sunday, the second half of the game, well, let's just say that I want to kick the developer's ass for putting me through this drudgery.

Eternal Damnation (mod)

And now for something completely different. I would definitely put this game in the category of survival/horror. You find out some really shocking things about your girlfriend, while running from zombies left and right, and escaping from a mental hospital, as well as a clinic from hell.
